Este fin de semana ambos se disponen a disputar el Criterium Internacional, que este año estrena territorio en Córcega. Tanto el pelotón como los escapados rodaban a una media de 41 kilómetros por hora y, en el kilómetro 125 (Lavacolla), la ventaja del grupo de ocho, en el que no había ningún ciclista que pudiese inquietar al líder, subió de nuevo hasta los tres minutos.

"Quizá tenía más fuerza bruta el año pasado, pero en éste tengo más fuerza ciclista", declaró en una entrevista publicada el lunes en el diario El País.

"Soy mejor ciclista ahora. Hasta me puedo sentir cómodo en el pelotón. El año pasado, al principio, iba nervioso, con miedo, a cola (...) Por eso me caí en Palencia", agregó.

De todos modos, el hombre nacido en Texas quiso evitar cualquier nueva controversia con el ciclista madrileño.

"Alberto es una persona nerviosa, lo que no es malo. Yo también lo soy. Todos los grandes campeones son así, todos tienen un pelín de inseguridad en la vida y tienen que compensarlo", señaló Armstrong.

"No creo que sea Alberto, sino la gente que lo rodea (...) Alberto no es estúpido. Es una persona inteligente. Seguirá creciendo y adquiriendo experiencia en todo", afirmó, al tiempo que agregó que "no es necesario" hablar con él antes del inicio del Tour.
