The Volta Catalunya expected to consolidate as reference test in March

Since 2004, the Volta was celebrated in the month of May, coinciding with the dispute of the Giro d'Italia, a circumstance that hindered the Catalan test.

After negotiating with the International Cycling Union, the organizers of the Volta have managed to move the race to March (between 22 and 28) "to search for the best riders and ratify as a reference at this time", as you said the president of proof, Ruben Peris, during the presentation of it.

Peris has stressed that the move to March will "take advantage of the hunger for competition with the cyclists arrive at this time" and recalled that the Volta, "the third-oldest cycling race in the world", a hundred years old in 2011 .

The layout of the 90th edition presents no final stage in high, since weather conditions in March prevented access to some ports in the Pyrenees. "But the race will be colorful and exciting," promised the president of the race.

It also has published the official poster for the 90th edition, which represents a cyclist with the 'jersey of race leader, designed by graphic artist Enric Jardi.
