The UCI has sent to all national cycling federations a circular reporting of the ban on cyclists in road races of the radio communication

The UCI has sent to all national cycling federations a circular reporting of the ban on cyclists in road races of the radio communication between managers and cyclists, or what is the same, the withdrawal of the now famous earpiece. So far only affected the lower grades, but after this season so far must be completed in professional cycling (men and women).

The withdrawal will gradually: in 2010 only will be restricted to scheduled class tests, 2 in the national and the World. But it will be the first step, since the idea of cycling governing body implementing the restriction is to go slowly: in 2011 racing class 1, and in 2012 in the classics and the Giro, Tour and Vuelta.

The circular was sent last weekend, but the decision was made at the congress of the ICU which was held on September 23 in Lugano (Switzerland). It is based on a study by a technical committee of experts that evaluated the impact of communication between car and driver as show trials. The conclusion was clear: "distorts the cycling sport.

The controversy over the use of earpiece exploded during the last Tour de France. The organization raised two steps without using the earpiece as an experiment. The move sparked a riot. Many of the teams signed a letter of protest and boycotted the race. Now the measure is no experiment, but not cease to raise controversy.
